Ballater after disaster | Restoring nature and adapting to a changing climate in the Cairngorms

“In 2015, flooding during Storm Frank saw huge amounts of water surge through Deeside, causing widespread damage. In the aftermath, the community came together to form the Ballater Flood Issues Group, coordinating partners and taking action on the ground to help the village rebuild, adapt and prepare for future flooding. Through our Cairngorms 2030 programme, we are supporting the group and working on restoration projects upstream to help build resilience to unpredictable and extreme weather, bringing benefits for residents, businesses and wildlife. The Cairngorms National Park Authority, local communities and land managers are working together to deliver Cairngorms 2030. This is made possible by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, with thanks to National Lottery players.“
